BBQ Eel with Carrot and mushroom rice
Not jellied eel!!! You can buy barbequed eel from Japanese or Chinese supermarkets. I have found them quite fatty because they are farmed eels. So, I’m still trying to figure out how to get rid of Eel’s fat… I am going to try frying it this time.
Soy sauce 1 Tbsp
Dashi Powder 1 tsp
1 Measure out the rice and wash it. Add the amount of water required for using the rice cooker. Put in the vegetables and add some soy sauce and dashi. Leave to cook. The rice cooker is automatic.
2 Put Eel skin side down in the frying pan with low heat and put a lid on. Wipe off excess sauce with kitchen papers because sometimes the sauce gets burned and smokes. (This is to burn Eel’s fat out and steam it up with a lid on. It has already got sauce on, so be careful not to burn skin side too much). Cook for about 10-15 min depends on the size of Eel.
3 Cut Eel.
